During the month of December, Sequoia Union High School District has requested that we begin to administer a series of placement tests in Reading, English and Math.

The first test to be given by Dec. 9 is a Reading placement test.   The Gates-MacGinitie Reading is a paper pencil test consisting of vocabulary and reading comprehension sections  (approx. 65 minutes).    The next series of tests for English and Math will be conducted during the month of January 2017.   This next series of assessments will be conducted on-line at school and students will be notified by their teachers.

On December 7th, District leaders, the Nesbit Principal, the Ralston Principal, and the Sandpiper Principal will be hosting a parent information night to present the 6th-8th grade program offerings that will be available at these three schools in the fall of 2017.  The Board of Trustees has approved the expansion of Sandpiper Elementary School from a K-5 school to a K-8 school beginning in 2017.  Starting next school year, 6th grade will be added to Sandpiper’s program, with 7th grade added in 2018, and 8th grade added in 2019.  Nesbit is currently a TK-7th grade school, with 8th grade being added in August 2017.

Applications for 6th grade at Nesbit and Sandpiper will be due in January, so we are providing information on all three grades 6-8 programs for 5th grade parents to consider their options.  At the meeting, parents will receive information on the Ralston, Nesbit, and Sandpiper middle grades programs.  The purpose of this event is to help families consider their options and choose between the three programs.  Once these choices are made, future family information and orientation events will be scheduled by the individual schools.

Location:                              Sandpiper Elementary School Multipurpose Room

                                                801 Redwood Shores Parkway

                                                Redwood City, CA
