The Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

Every child. One voice.

The Ralston Middle School Parent-Teacher Association is committed to increasing parental involvement in support of Ralston Middle School faculty, staff, and students. The PTA is an active organization whose membership is open to all parents and teachers. As an association, it has several objectives:

Purpose of the PTA

  • To bring into closer relation the home and the school so that they may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
  • To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in education.
  • To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community.




Ralston is paperless. This will be your primary connection to the goings on of the school


Please make sure that at least one member of each student's family is subscribed as the weekly email is used to distribute vital information about school news and events throughout the school year.

Welcome to the start of the 2017-2018 school year!  


Ralston Music Boosters volunteers time to support Ralston's wonderful music program.  


SchoolForce funds 100% of music program needs! - Thanks to full support from SchoolForce (BRSSD's Education Foundation), did you know that Ralston Music Boosters is no longer a fundraising group?  This allows us to focus our time to volunteer and support the music program.   THANK YOU SchoolForce!


Volunteering -  Music Boosters has several openings on our steering committee, plus plenty of chances to volunteer during the year at concerts, field trips, and be involved planning or chaperoning the Disneyland Music Trip next spring.  Contact Laura Parks, Disney trip chair, at to volunteer for the Disneyland trip or the Music boosters at to volunteer for other volunteer positions.


Music events this year - Ralston musicians perform both at Ralston and at other venues during the school year.  Several of our Ralston Middle School music groups will be performing at the SchoolForce Save the Music Festival on Sunday, October 1st at Twin Pines Park in Belmont.  Each year, Ralston students perform winter and spring concerts at Ralston during mid-December and May.  Dates, and additional performances will be available soon on the Music Boosters website.

Team PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) wants to extend our thanks to our amazing administration, staff, and parents/guardians for supporting our students in kick starting a RAMtastic school year!  Knowing the high behavioral expectations in place for them, our students are in great shape to make 2016-2017 truly fantastic.  Our positive school climate will help ensure their ongoing academic progress and sense of community.  Thank you all for being Responsible, Accountable, Mindful, and Supportive!

What is the Walkabout Program?
The Ralston Rams Walkabout program is a NEW school supported, parent staffed program that provides a positive adult presence on campus during the lunch recess hour (12:10 - 1:05pm).  Ralston is a growing campus and the additional adult presence on campus is designed to promote citizenship and discourage inappropriate behavior.  It also gives parents the opportunity to volunteer in an area that directly impacts their child by helping to keep the middle school campus feeling safe and secure for everyone.  We are kicking off the program with our 7/8 graders and would MOST welcome our 6th grade families to sign up and help us make this a successful program.
How do I sign up? 
All volunteers must first have their clearance with the school on file and TB certification.
What do I do when I show up? 
Stop by the office, sign in and grab a "Volunteer" badge and a clipboard- this helps identify you as a Walkabout volunteer to students and staff. Third, Walkabout!
Is there help for first-timers? 
Yes! We are happy to go over the program with you and you can even partner up the first time.  If a partner isn't available, just identify yourself as a first-timer in the office.  They love your participation and they will help you out!  
Do I need to attend training to volunteer? 
No. There is no formal requirement to participate. However, we'd like to make sure first-timers hear first-hand a couple "rules of the road" from an experienced volunteer.
What if I witness something strange/inappropriate/dangerous?
We have great kids and "situations" are very rare. However, it is important 
to understand that it is NOT your job to resolve any situation. Rather, you are there to report it. Please let the school administrators know directly and they will take care of the situation. Your job is to just be a positive presence - to smile! - and watch over the kids. 
Are there any "dos and don'ts?" 
Do be a positive presence, do encourage kids to pick up after themselves at lunch.  Don't intervene in any situations that may come up. Rather, just report them.

Volunteering to help serve hot lunch is a great opportunity to get a sneak peek into life on the Ralston campus. PLUS you will receive one lunch credit for each day you work!

Lunch is served in two shifts. The first shift is 11 am to 12 pm for the 6th graders and the 2nd shift is 12 pm to 1 pm for 7th and 8th graders. You can sign up for 1 or 2 consecutive shifts every week, twice a month, or once a month. Whatever works for you! 


Please be sure you are a cleared volunteer with BRSSD.
