My Bio

One of my great joys as a teacher is getting to know my students throughout the school year, as well as sharing some of my own life stories with them. What follows is my brief biography...I will share more about myself during class!

My name is Alan Bean and I teach8th Grade English Language Arts at Ralston Middle School.  I'm excited to begin my third year at Ralston this August!

I haven't always been a teacher.  Before becoming one, I worked in the Civil Construction industry for seven years.  However, as I discovered more about myself, I found a desire to help students achieve success both in and out of the classroom.  I earned my B.A. in English at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and my Teaching Credential at the University of San Francisco.  I'm passionate about sharing the joys of literature, the skills of writing, and the power of communication with my students.

I think most of us can agree--becoming a teenager and being a teenager can be tough and the challenges of the classroom can, at times, seem overwhelming. Being a teacher allows me the privilege of getting to create a classroom that provides a supportive environment for my students to learn and grow in during this time of their lives.  I love being a teacher and I can't wait to meet all of you!
